Privacy Policy
Your phone. Your data.
Effective
The short version
- No account. You never sign up or log in.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- On your phone. Your Home Screen layout, settings, notifications and screen content are processed on your device. We, the developer, never receive them.
- We never sell or share your data. There is nothing to sell: we don’t collect it.
- A few clearly limited connections. Weather, currency rates and Google Play purchases need the internet. They are described below, so nothing is a surprise.
Who we are
DuoOS (“DuoOS”, “we”, “us”) is an independent Android Home Screen app for foldable phones, published on Google Play. This policy covers the DuoOS app distributed through Google Play and this website. For any privacy question, write to talhaatariq4@gmail.com.
What stays on your phone
These are stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. We have no copy and no way to see them.
- Your Home Screen: pages, folders, icon positions, widgets, wallpaper choice and Interface Style.
- Your settings and preferences, including Control Center controls and Focus modes.
- If you choose one of your own photos as a wallpaper, a copy of that photo, so the wallpaper keeps working.
- A recent weather forecast and the place it is for, so the weather widget opens instantly.
- Today’s step count, if you use the Fitness widget.
- Crash logs (up to 20). They stay on your phone and are shared only if you choose to send one to us yourself.
- A backup of your previous Home Screen, so you can undo a layout change or a transfer.
Permissions and why we ask
Every permission is optional. DuoOS asks only when you turn on the feature that needs it, and keeps working without it.

You can review or revoke any of these at any time in Android Settings › Apps › DuoOS › Permissions.
Accessibility service (Duo Gestures)
DuoOS uses Android’s Accessibility Service API only if you turn on Duo Gestures. Before you do, the app shows you what it uses and asks you to agree.
What it uses
- Which app is open, so Control Center and the status bar can adapt to it.
- The volume buttons, to show the Duo volume indicator.
- The Quick Settings switches you tap, so Control Center can switch them for you.
- A snapshot of the screen, used only to draw the blur behind Control Center. It is kept in memory, never saved to storage, and discarded when Control Center closes.
What it never does
- It never reads passwords.
- It never reads or collects the text you type or the content of other apps.
- It never sends anything it sees off your phone, and we never sell or share it.
- It is never used for advertising.
You can turn Duo Gestures off at any time in Android Settings › Accessibility.
Notification access
If you allow notification access, DuoOS reads the notifications on your phone (the app, title, text and actions) and the music that is playing, to show badges on your icons, Notification Center and Now Playing. This information is held in memory only while it is shown. It is not written to storage and never leaves your phone. You can turn it off in Android Settings › Notifications › Notification access.
Cable transfer from your old phone
When you choose Transfer With a Cable and connect your old phone with a USB-C cable, DuoOS reads from that phone, directly over the cable:
- your Home Screen layout: pages, folders and the order of your apps,
- icons for apps you don’t have yet, and a preview of your wallpapers,
- the phone’s name and the pairing details needed to connect to it securely.
This is stored in the app’s private storage so the layout can be rebuilt and undone. Nothing goes through the internet. DuoOS does not read photos, messages or any other content from your old phone.
When DuoOS uses the internet
Weather
To show the weather, DuoOS sends your location, rounded to about 100 metres (three decimal places), to Open-Meteo, a free weather service. No name, account or device identifier is sent with it. Open-Meteo, like any web server, receives your IP address. The name of your city is looked up by your phone’s built-in Android location service. If you don’t grant location access, no location is sent.
Currency rates
When you convert currencies in search, DuoOS downloads public exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) at most every 12 hours. No personal data is sent.
Purchases
DuoOS Pro is sold through Google Play Billing. Google processes your payment. We never see your card or payment details. The app receives only whether you have an active purchase or subscription, so it can turn Pro on. Google’s handling of your data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Android backup
If you have turned on backup for your phone, Android may include DuoOS’s settings and Home Screen in your device backup to your Google account, so they can be restored on a new phone. This backup is run by Android and Google, not by us, and we cannot access it. You control it in Android Settings › Google › Backup.
Apart from these, DuoOS does not connect to the internet.
Full Experience (optional) and Shizuku
A few features need an Android permission called WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS, which apps cannot give themselves. It is used only to hide duplicate system status icons and pop-ups, and to switch Low Power, Eye Comfort and Location in place from Control Center.
If you choose the optional Full Experience setup, DuoOS asks Shizuku, a free, open-source app you install and start yourself from Google Play, to grant this permission once. You can also grant it yourself with a computer. You can skip this entirely: DuoOS works without it.
- The permission only changes settings on your phone. Nothing is collected and nothing is sent anywhere.
- Before DuoOS changes a system setting, it saves the previous value on your phone so it can put it back.
- The permission stays after Shizuku stops or is removed, and is removed when you uninstall DuoOS. To put your phone’s own status icons and pop-ups back, uninstall with Settings › General › Remove DuoOS inside the app (see Support if you already uninstalled).
What DuoOS does not do
- No account, login or profile.
- No advertising, and no advertising ID.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
- No microphone, no voice features and no AI features in the Google Play version.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data with anyone.
Keeping and deleting your data
Everything DuoOS stores stays on your phone until you delete it. Clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app deletes all of it. Step-by-step instructions are on the Delete Your Data page. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. If you emailed us, you can ask us to delete that email at any time.
Security
Your data lives in DuoOS’s private app storage, protected by Android’s app sandbox. The cable transfer uses an encrypted, paired connection. Network requests use HTTPS.
Children
DuoOS is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since DuoOS collects no personal information at all, none is gathered from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA give you the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. Because your data stays on your phone, you exercise these rights directly, in the app and in Android Settings. We are happy to help with any request: talhaatariq4@gmail.com.
This website
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
Changes to this policy
If we change how DuoOS handles data, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
